Cold Sore (Herpes Simplex) Notice

If you have a personal history of cold sores, please contact the clinic prior to your appointment. SkinVive injected near the mouth can trigger a flare, and you may need preventative antiviral medication to ensure a safe, comfortable treatment.

3-5 Days Before Treatment

• Avoid blood-thinning supplements and medications when possible (consult your prescribing provider): fish oil, omega-3s, vitamin E, turmeric, aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen.

• Limit alcohol, as it can increase bruising.

• If you bruise easily, you may start Arnica orally (optional). We do have medical-grade products available at the clinic for $14.

• Avoid dental cleanings, major dental work, or vaccinations within 2 weeks of your appointment (before or after).

Day of Treatment

• If possible, arrive with make-up-free skin.

• Work out at least 2 hours prior to your appointment.

• Eat a light meal beforehand to prevent lightheadedness.

Reminders

• Results from the SkinVive injections will take approximately 4 weeks to appear. Plan accordingly for any special occasions, vacations, family pictures, and events you may have coming up to ensure you look your best.

• Please remember that, although usually minimal, bruising can occur and may last up to two weeks.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your SkinVive Skin Hydrator appointment is approximately a 45-minute visit. We’ll begin with a focused consultation to understand your goals and ensure this is the best treatment to meet those goals. Before and after photos will be taken to help track progress. Then, a topical numbing cream will be applied to help minimize any discomfort with the treatment. SkinVive is injected using a microdroplet technique into the dermis layer of your skin. Immediately after, you will notice small red bumps at the injection sites. This is normal, and the bumps will resolve within 10-15 minutes. You will be instructed not manipulate the treated area for 4 hours following treatment.
