CLEANSING
Cleanse the skin twice a day with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser beginning the morning after treatment. Use clean hands and gentle motions. DO NOT rub, scrub, or use an exfoliant sponge, towel, or Clarisonic on the treated area.
MOISTURIZER
After treatment, keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. In addition, exosomes, such as Plated Calm serum, may be applied to boost your healing and results.
SUNSCREEN
Sunscreen is a MUST and should be applied daily, beginning the day after treatment. Use a physical (mineral-based) sunscreen with Broadband UVA/UVB protection. Ensure to reapply every 2 hours during sun exposure.
DISCOMFORT
For general post-treatment discomfort, an over-the-counter oral pain reliever is advised. If an antiviral was prescribed, continue taking it as directed. Avoid scratching and litching, as scarring and pigmentation complications can occur.
FEELING OF WARMTH
The treatment area may be extremely warm (like a sunburn) and red for 1-2 hours after treatment; however, you may feel the sensation for up to 12-24 hours. Using fans or applying cold compresses may provide comfort during this time.
REDNESS
Redness is normal and expected. Redness generally lasts for the first 24 hours and may last up to 3 days, depending on the intensity of the treatment. Use gentle cleansers, keep your skin moisturized, and protect it from the sun to allow it to heal and minimize further damage.
SWELLING
There may be some degree of swelling immediately post-procedure or within the first 24 hours. This is normal and to be expected. However, if you experience excessive swelling or any of the following signs of infection, you should contact the office immediately.
Signs of infection:
Drainage, looks like pus
Persistent, increased warmth
Fever
