CLEANSING
Cleanse the skin twice a day with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser beginning the morning after treatment. Use clean hands and gentle motions. DO NOT rub, scrub, or use an exfoliant sponge, towel, or Clarisonic on the treated area.
MOISTURIZER
After treatment, keep your skin moisturized by using the take-home Epicutis Lipid Serum and Hyvia Creme. You may apply as often as you wish. In addition, exosomes such as the Plated Calm serum may be applied to boost your healing and results.
SUNSCREEN
Sunscreen is a MUST and should be applied daily, beginning the day after treatment. Use a physical (mineral based) sunscreen with Broadband UVA/UVB protection. Ensure to reapply every 2 hours during sun exposure.
DISCOMFORT
For general post-treatment discomfort, an over-the-counter oral pain reliever is advised. If an antiviral was prescribed, continue taking it as directed. Avoid scratching and litching, as scarring and pigmentation complications can occur.
FEELING OF WARMTH
The treatment area may be extremely warm (like a sunburn) and red for 1-2 hours after treatment; however, you may feel the sensation for up to 12-24 hours. Using fans or applying cold compresses may provide comfort during this time.
REDNESS
Redness is normal and expected. Redness generally persists for the first 24 hours and may last up to 7 days, depending on the intensity of the treatment. Use gentle cleansers, keep your skin moisturized, and protect it from the sun to allow it to heal and minimize further damage.
SWELLING
There may be some degree of swelling immediately post-procedure or within the first 24 hours. This is normal and to be expected. However, if you experience excessive swelling or any of the following signs of infection, you should contact the office immediately.
Signs of infection:
Drainage, looks like pus
Persistent, increased warmth
Fever
MENDS
Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris—also known as micro crusts—may appear on the 2nd or 3rd day after treatment as tiny dark dots or a bronzed tone on the skin. This is a normal and essential part of your skin’s renewal process, as treated tissue is shed while fresh, healthy skin regenerates beneath. During this phase, your skin may feel dry or slightly rough, similar to sandpaper. Keep the area well-moisturized and avoid picking to allow smooth, even healing and optimal results.
TIPS
1. A cold compress can be used to alleviate the feeling of warmth & swelling
2. Use a clean pillowcase and clean towels
3. Use soft cloths and soft towels to avoid any scrubbing
4. Make-up can be worn once the peeling process is complete
5. Wear a wide-brimmed hat if you anticipate having sun exposure
6. When showering, avoid getting shampoo directly on the treated area
7. Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until the skin has healed
